Matt read wrong - the movie was at 9.30 p.m. instead of 8.30 p.m. and we already had our Ben & Jerry's in hand ready to go for the movie. We did get a free ticket though, which was a nice surprise. The lady we were buying tickets from over the counter said, "Because you watch lots of movies you have a free ticket". Not sure how that happened but yes we do go to Hoyts a lot - A LOT.
With an hour to wait, we thought we'd go outside and enjoy the fresh air but I found it too cold with the absence of any sunlight whatsoever, naturally at that time of day I suppose :) So we walked back in and sat at a designated seating area in the shopping centre with colourful plastic and wicker stools.
Urghh... overkill. I have realised the older I get the more I dislike sweet things. I have however learned to enjoy chocolate and have actually had moments of craving, something that almost never happens! But yeah, ice cream really doesn't do it for me. I need to stop adding choctops at the snack bar by default on movie night. Definitely no snakes, jelly beans and definitely not milkshakes. There are the exceptions when 'I feel like it' though :) Or the need to just munch on something. The idea of flavoured milk other than chocolate sort of makes me cringe. Cake on the other hand, I enjoy cake. I love cake :) Pastries in general is ♡
So an hour later, armed with a large barrel of popcorn and a coke as usual, we finally got to sit down and enjoy our movie after 20 minutes of trailers and advertisements *yawn*. The movie was better than expected. I wasn't sure what to expect as all I could really get from the trailer was a cheating dying wife and Clooney in a previously-absent-father-now-needed-full-time-due-to-current-circumstances parenting dilemma. It was a very real movie, I'm at lost for words at how to describe it. It wasn't over-acted, glossed with special effects or had hot girls prancing around half-naked. It was like a reality tv show- a real 'non-scripted' one. I gave it inverted commas because it's obviously scripted because it's a movie and reality tv shows really aren't reality tv shows and are mostly scripted as well. Oh god, I'm so awful at describing things. Anyways, it's slow paced but not boring. Clooney with his sharp suit no where in sight and substituted with Hawaiian print shirts, haunted with real life issues actually made him look physically less attractive. I believe that's a good sign :)
